National

Total igaming revenue for October 2024 in Michigan, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Connecticut, West Virginia, Delaware, and Rhode Island added up to $688.4 million compared to $562.4 million in October 2023. In addition, every state except Pennsylvania set new records for igaming revenue, with all but Michigan surpassing records set in September of this year.

1. Michigan

Igaming revenue in Michigan set a new record in October, hitting $220.7 million and beating the previous record of $215.5 million from March of this year.

FanDuel (MotorCity) took the top spot for revenue, generating $50.56 million and barely edging out BetMGM (MGM Grand Detroit) at $50.55 million. DraftKings (Bay Mills) came in third at $40 million.

Michigan’s 15 online casino operators paid $41.5 million in taxes in October, up from $30.1 million year over year, of which $10.2 million went to the city of Detroit and $5.2 million to tribal governments, the rest to the state.

2. New Jersey

The Garden State’s igaming operators earned almost as much as Michigan last month, bringing in $213.6 million compared to $166.8 million a year ago. Like Michigan, it was a new record, beating the previous one of $208.1 million set in September. In addition, the revenue from online casinos surpassed that of the brick-and-mortar joints, which generated $208.7 million and making igaming the dominant vertical in the state.

Golden Nugget earned the most with $67.1 million in revenue. Resorts (DraftKings) came in second with $45.6 million, while BetMGM (Borgata) stayed in third place with $25.5 million in total revenue.

New Jersey collected $31.9 million in taxes to the state, up from $25.1 million year over year.

3. Pennsylvania

In October, the Keystone State earned $189 million in internet-casino revenue, up slightly from the $186.9 million generated in October 2023.

Hollywood Casino at Penn National led the state with $69.4 million, an increase of 11.6% compared to the same month in 2023. Valley Forge Casino Resort posted $51.9. million and Rivers Casino Philadelphia reported $33.2 million.

Total revenue from online slots was $140.1 million compared to $109.8 million, while online table games’ $45.9 million was up from $42.6 million. Internet poker’s $2.2 million continued a downward trend from last year’s $2.3 million.

4. Connecticut

Igaming operators raked in a record $31.9 million in October, surpassing the previous record of $30.4 million set in September. DraftKings’s $18.8 million also set a record for both revenue and market share (60%); FanDuel generated $12.4 million with a 40% share, down from 47% in September.

5. West Virginia

The Mountain State’s igaming revenue for October came in at $23.4 million compared to $15.5 million year over year. That set a new record, beating the previous record of $20 million set in September; last month was the first in which igaming brought in $20 million or more. Interestingly, October 2023’s $15.5 million was itself a record, beating the previous one of $14.3 million set in March 2023.

6. Delaware

Delaware’s internet casinos won $6.7 million from online gamblers in October. Online video lottery (slot) games once again accounted for the lion’s share of income at $4.3 million, while table games generated $2.4 million.

7. Rhode Island

Rhode Island’s igaming revenue, monopolized by Bally’s, generated $3.1 million in September compared to $2.97 million in August (Rhode Island reports in the first week of the second month, so October’s number will show up in December). That brought September’s total igaming revenue in the seven states to $686.7 million. For October, we’re estimating $3.1 million again, which will be updated in two weeks.
