National

Total igaming revenue for October 2021 in New Jersey, Michigan, Pennsylvania, Connecticut, West Virginia, and Delaware added up to $445.2 million, an increase of just under 22% over October 2021. Revenue records were set by New Jersey, Michigan, Pennsylvania, and Connecticut in October.

New Jersey

For the month of October, internet-gaming win reported in New Jersey was $147.2 million, reflecting growth of 15.9% compared to the $127 million for the prior-year period. The total smashed the previous record, set in September, for igaming revenue of $127 million by nearly 14%; the September total also broke August’s record of $122.6 million. It was the ninth month in a row that igaming in New Jersey topped nine figures and the 10th time this year.

Borgata/BetMGM led the pack once again with $41 million, 5.6% more than the $38.8 million a year ago, while Resorts Digital came in second for the first time in New Jersey igaming history with a total of $39.3 million, a noticeable increase of 34.3% over October 2021’s $29.3 million. Golden Nugget Online Gaming’s $38.4 million dropped it to third place, though it was 11.3% more than last year’s $34.5 million.

New Jersey collected $22.1 million in online-gambling taxes in October, a 14% jump from the $19 million in the same period of 2021.

Michigan

Michigan continues its igaming juggernaut, threatening New Jersey for supremacy. In October, the Great Lakes State won a record $141 million from online gamblers, besting the previous record of $132.4 million set in April 2022 by 6 percentage points. It was also a year-over-year increase of 22.2% over October 2021’s $109.7 million, which was the third month in a row igaming set a new record in Michigan.

Like in New Jersey, BetMGM remains the board leader with $52.3 million, breaking its own record of $50 million set in April and beating October 2021’s revenue of $41.4 million by 21%.

Michigan’s 14 online casino operators paid $26.3 million in taxes, up 23.7% over October 2021’s $20.3 million and the highest for the year. Of the total, $6.9 million went to the city of Detroit, while $3 million was paid to the various tribal governments.

Pennsylvania

Revenue from igaming in Pennsylvania was $124.5 million in October, surpassing the previous record of $118.1 million set in March 2022. It was also an increase of 17.4% over October 2021’s $102.9 million, which was the first time the Keystone State hit the 10-figure mark. It’s done so every month since.

Total revenue from online slots, $86.3 million, was an increase of 18.1% over the $70.7 million last year. Online table games’ $35.7 million was up a similar 18% over October 2021’s $29.3 million. Online poker’s $2.5 million, however, dropped 10.7% from $2.8 million last year.

Hollywood Casino at Penn National continues to hold its perch at the top of the list, earning $52.7 million, a substantial increase of 23% over last year’s $40.6 million, while second-place Rivers Casino Pennsylvania’s $29.3 million registered a 9% increase over October 2021’s $26.3 million.

Pennsylvania collected $52.7 million in igaming taxes in October, a commensurate 17.9% increase year over year.

Connecticut

Igaming operators set a revenue record in October at $21.9 million, with DraftKings accounting for 57.5% at $12.6 million and FanDuel’s $9.3 million making up the other 42.5%. Together, they ponied up $4 million in taxes. Online casino gambling launched in Connecticut on October 11, 2021, so full-month year-over-year comparisons will kick in with November’s totals.

West Virginia

The Mountain State’s igaming revenue for October came in at $9.4 million, a 32% jump over the $6.4 million in October 2021. However, West Virginia reports its results weekly, so it’s never an apples-to-apples comparison. Still, last month’s total was a significant improvement over the same period last year.

Delaware

Delaware’s internet casinos won $1.2 million from gamblers in October 2022, a nice 22.5% increase year over year.

Online video lottery (slot) games once again accounted for the lion’s share of income at $911,649, up the same 22% as total revenue, while table games generated $258,377, an increase of 27.5% over October 2021’s $187,453, which was a whopping 51% increase from the previous month’s $95,625. Online poker revenue, though, at $28,495 was a drop of 7% from the $30,644 of October 2021.
