  1. The Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario announced Monday that Dr. Karin Schnarr will become its next chief executive officer and registrar. Schnarr, who replaces the retiring Tom Mungham, begins her new role on Sept. 18.
  2. FanDuel and Rivalry are each offering something new on the product front. Through its partnership with Canadian sports broadcaster TSN, FanDuel customers in Ontario can now access both operators’ mobile apps and websites through a pop-up window on TSN.ca. On Tuesday, Toronto-based Rivalry introduced what the company is touting as the first same-game parlay product for esports bettors.
  3. Sports bettor and gambling industry consultant Harley Redlick joined the latest episode of the Gaming News Canada Show podcast presented by Osler, Hoskin & Harcourt LLP. Redlick provided his thoughts on the recent blockbuster announcement by Penn and ESPN, and also weighed in on the first 18 months of Ontario’s regulated sports betting and igaming industry.
  4. NorthStar Gaming Holdings, owners of Ontario-licensed NorthStar Bets, announced Thursday double-digit increase for total wagers and gross gaming revenue in its financial results for the second quarter of 2023.
  5. Both Playgon Games and BeyondPlay have received suppliers’ licences to operate in Ontario.
