Pa. slots revenue down for month and fiscal year

HARRISBURG, Pa. (AP) – For the second fiscal year in a row, Pennsylvania casinos have reported a decline in revenue from slot machines.

The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board said Wednesday that gross slot-machine revenue for the fiscal year that ended Monday fell 4.5 percent to $2.3 billion. Ten of 11 Pennsylvania casinos that were open the last two years posted annual declines.

The agency says that slots revenue in June fell 6 percent from the year-ago period.

State regulators have blamed increased competition from border states for the casinos’ recent slots struggles.

Pennsylvania remains the nation’s second largest gambling market after Las Vegas in terms of gross revenue and No. 1 in taxes collected.
