HARRISBURG, Pa. (AP) – A casino executive tells Pennsylvania state senators considering legalizing Internet gambling that it would help attract new and younger gamblers.
Michael Cohen, a senior vice president of Caesars Entertainment, was among about a dozen casino executives who testified Wednesday before the Senate committee that oversees gambling legislation.
New Jersey, Delaware and Nevada allow Internet gambling.
Cohen says Caesars is finding that 80 percent of online players in New Jersey haven’t visited a casino in a long time. He says 15 percent of those online players then go visit a casino.
He says over 60 percent of online players are 21 to 39, but less than 30 percent of players in actual casinos are in that age range. A just-introduced Senate bill would allow existing Pennsylvania casinos to offer Internet gambling.
