Resorts World announced on Monday that its RW Gives program will distribute $250,000 to 25 nonprofits across New York state to mark America’s 250th Anniversary. Twenty-five community nonprofits will each receive $10,000 to pay for their local work through Resorts World’s “A Day of Giving” drawing on July 7.
The awards tie into the 250th anniversary of American independence to direct investment in the groups doing frontline work in their communities.
The donations will be distributed at Resorts World Catskills in Monticello. Resorts World Senior Vice President of Government Affairs and Public Relations Meghan Taylor will oversee the drawing, with elected officials and community groups expected to attend.
More than 400 nonprofits across the state applied through an open call. Recipients were selected by random drawing across Resorts World’s three New York regions. Resorts World will award $150,000 to 15 organizations in the New York City region, $50,000 to five organizations in the Hudson Valley, and $50,000 to five organizations in the Catskills.
The grants extend Resorts World’s program, which has invested more than $3 million in more than 200 local organizations since 2011 and matches employee donations dollar for dollar. Across its three New York properties, the company has contributed more than $5 billion to New York State’s public education fund.
