The Venetian Resort & Casino has reached a critical milestone in its more than two-decade effort to fight food insecurity in the Las Vegas region, by reaching $1 million in donations of surplus food.
The benchmark, announced during Hunger Action Month, also represents more than 754,000 pounds of food donated, the equivalent of about 628,000 meals, according to the Venetian.
“This milestone is about much more than dollars raised,” said Marcy Miles, chief marketing officer at The Venetian. “It reflects the power of partnership and our shared commitment to supporting families in Southern Nevada.”
The $1 million milestone represents contributions made since 2023, when the Venetian became the founding partner of the Food Rescue Alliance. Miles stressed that every pound of food “nourishes a family” instead of going to waste.
The program recovers surplus food from catered events, conventions, trade shows, and meetings. The food is safely recovered, packaged, and distributed through The Just One Project.
Brooke Neubaur, CEO of The Just One Project, said, “This milestone represents a meaningful investment in our mission and in the thousands of southern Nevadans who rely on access to groceries, meals and essential resources.”
The program also received national recognition in 2024 when Second Gentleman Douglas Emhoff highlighted the Venetian and The Just One Project’s Food Rescue Alliance initiative during a White House briefing.
The briefing was on the White House Challenge to End Hunger and Build Healthy Communities by 2030. The partnership was one of only three initiatives highlighted during the briefing.
In May, Caesars Entertainment announced a partnership with the nonprofit. During a volunteer event on May 13, the company kicked off its partnership by donating nearly 4,500 pounds of surplus food, providing 3,749 meals.
Caesars donated an additional $50,000 to The Just One Project.
