LAS VEGAS (AP) – A Nevada casino regulator is scheduled to testify in federal court about a ruse used to gain entry to high-roller suites at Caesars Palace to break up what prosecutors say was an illegal Internet sports gambling operation.
Nevada Gaming Control Board Agent Ricardo Lopez is expected to take the stand Wednesday.
It’ll be the third day of testimony on a bid by defense attorneys to have the criminal case against a Malaysian businessman and his son thrown out as tainted by an illegal search.
U.S. Magistrate Judge Peggy Leen has already heard FBI Agent Minh Pham acknowledge failing to inform the judge who issued a search warrant in July that Internet service was intentionally disabled to three Caesars Palace suites so agents posing as repair technicians could gain entry.
