Nevada: Gaming revenues post slight gains in August

Nevada continues to post modest monthly increases in gaming win, though tax revenue declined in August, according to state gaming regulators.

The Nevada Gaming Control Board reported Wednesday that the state’s 453 casinos won $1.2 billion in August, a 3.1% increase over August 2025. For the fiscal year that began on July 1, gaming win has increased 2.6%.

The Las Vegas Strip posted a 0.7% increase, reporting $684 million in revenue. In addition to the slight increase reported by Strip casinos, overall gaming win in Clark County, which includes downtown Las Vegas, Laughlin, the Boulder Strip, and Mesquite, gained 2.8% to $1.06 billion.

Southern Nevada casinos posted mixed results in August, according to the Control Board. The Boulder Strip win increased 17.3% to $83.2 million, with Laughlin posting a 9.9% increase to $39.8 million and Mesquite down 1.2% to $15.6 million.

Downtown Las Vegas gaming win was down 2.9% to $61.5 million, North Las Vegas was off 0.7% to $24.8 million, and the balance of Clark County gained 7.4% to $152.9 million.

In northern Nevada, communities in Washoe County posted the highest percentage gains in the state, with gaming win up 15.6% in Reno to $79.4 million, 3.3% in North Lake Tahoe to $2.6 million, and 5.1% to $8.9 million in the outlying areas.

Sparks was the only jurisdiction in Washoe County to report a decline in monthly gaming revenues, down 5.7% to $17.3 million.

Elko County reported a 2.8% drop in win to $36.5 million, with Wendover posting a 4.1% decline to $24.2 million and the balance of the county showing a 0.2% decline to $12.2 million.

Gaming revenue declined by 3.5% in the Carson Valley area, which includes Carson City, Gardnerville, Minden, and all areas of Douglas County except South Lake Tahoe, to $12.2 million.

The NGCB took in $72.5 million in percentage fees in September based on the taxable revenue generated in August. This represents a 5.98%, or $4.6 million, decrease compared to August 2025.
