Louisiana: June gaming revenue drops slightly

The Louisiana Gaming Control Board recently reported the state’s casinos generated $200.1 million in gaming revenue in June, down 2% compared with 2019 and a decrease of 3.1% from May’s $207.3 million.

The state’s 13 riverboat casinos generated $152 million for the month, a decrease of 3.2% from May’s total of $156.9 million. Harrah’s New Orleans Casino & Resort, Louisiana’s only land-based casino, generated $21.0 million, a slight increase of 1.2% from the previous month. Revenue from online sports betting reached $10.7 million, with a handle of $132.4 million, and the state’s four racetrack slot operators totaled $27.1 million.

Lake Charles district properties -L’Auberge Casino Resort Lake Charles, Golden Nugget Lake Charles, and Delta Downs Racetrack Casino Hotel — brought in $73.6 million in revenue, down from May’s $75.2 million. Golden Nugget was the region’s leading revenue generator with $29.9 million, followed by L’Auberge with $29.8 million. Delta Downs’ revenue reached $13.9 million.

The seven properties in the Shreveport/Bossier region accumulated $51.0 million in gaming revenue, tracking closely with May’s $51.2 million. Margaritaville Resort Casino generated $18.8 million, Horseshoe Bossier City brought in $12.7 million, and Bally’s Shreveport Casino & Hotel totaled $8.5 million.

New Orleans’ casinos generated $46.8 million in June, compared to $48.3 million the previous month. In addition to Harrah’s $21.0 million, Boomtown Casino & Hotel was responsible for $10.9 million and Treasure Chest Casino, $8.1 million.

Baton Rouge’s casinos generated $22.5 million in gaming revenue, a slight increase of $200,000 from May. L’Auberge Casino Hotel reached $16.3 million, Hollywood Casino Baton Rouge, $4.9 million, and the Belle of Baton Rouge Casino Hotel, $1.3 million.
