SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP) – The Legislature has approved a gambling compact between the state and a tribe located in a remote area of Riverside County.

The compact negotiated in June between the Ramona Band of Cahuilla Indians and Gov. Jerry Brown allows the tribe to operate 750 slot machines.

The 13-member tribe’s 560-acre reservation is located in Anza along Highway 371, about 34 miles east of Temecula.

Democratic Sen. Norma Torres of Pomona says the tribe has an agreement to compensate the county for any effects the casino might have on the surrounding communities.

A1245 passed the Senate 37-0 without debate on Tuesday and now goes to the governor for his signature.
