July revenue figs due out Friday for AC casinos (AP)

ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. (AP) – July is always one of the busiest months for Atlantic City’s casinos, and revenue figures due out Friday afternoon will show how the city’s 12 gambling halls fared as summer heated up.

The state Division of Gaming Enforcement will release figures on how much money the casinos won from gamblers in July.

The numbers should show whether a “you can’t lose” slot refund promotion by Revel Hotel Casino brought new customers to the struggling casino. But the way in which the refunds are made – through gradual credits to a players’ card balance – has upset some gamblers.

For the first six months of the year, the casinos won $1.38 billion, down 10.7 percent from the same period last year.
