Judge: Drunken man, not casino, to blame for fiancee attack

EASTON, Pa. (AP) — A judge has thrown out a lawsuit from a man who beat up his fiancee that blamed a Pennsylvania casino for serving him too many free drinks.

The (Allentown) Morning Call (http://bit.ly/2fY0FC3) reports that Northampton County Judge Paula Roscioli ruled midway through the civil trial Wednesday that 31-year-old Nicholas Mullins had no one to blame but himself.

Mullins was seeking monetary damages from Sands Casino Resort Bethlehem.

Mullins is still on probation for the January 2012 assault on his fiancee inside their hotel room. He pleaded guilty to aggravated assault and was sentenced to up to four years in prison.

The casino said Mullins was solely to blame.

Defense attorney Stuart Niemtzow said his client was also injured and now can’t find a job. He vowed to appeal the ruling.
