Iowa casinos generated $152.1 million in revenue in May, up 1.8% year-over-year.
The Iowa Racing and Gaming Commission figures show that slots accounted for $138.4 million, up 2%, while table game revenue was down by 0.6% to $13.8 million.
Of the state’s 19 casinos, 11 showed a year-over-year rise, including the state’s biggest revenue generator, Prairie Meadows, which was up 2% to $22 million. Other double-digit revenues came from Horseshoe Casino Council Bluffs ($14.4 million), Ameristar II ($14 million), and Riverside Casino ($10.7 million).
The biggest revenue increase came at Bally’s Marquette, which opened as a land-based casino in March, posting a 77.7% increase to $3.2 million. Other big revenue increases came from Grand Falls Casino and Isle of Capri Bettendorf, which showed increases of 16.1% and 15.4% respectively.
Rhythm City Casino had the greatest year-over-year revenue drop, down 8.3% to $9.3 million. Other big declines came from Great River Casino, down 6.8%, and Horseshoe Casino Council Bluffs, down 6.5%.
