Iowa’s casinos generated a combined $151.5 million in revenue for March, down 2.1% year-over-year.
The figures, published by the Iowa Racing and Gaming Commission, show that slot machine revenue contributed $137.5 million, down 2.5%, while table games were up 1.9% to $14 million.
Prairie Meadows Racetrack & Casino recorded $21.4 million in revenue, the best in the state, with Horseshoe Casino Council Bluffs recording $14.8 million and Ameristar II reporting $14.4 million. Riverside Casino and Golf Resort reported $10.8 million, and Diamond Jo Worth posted $10 million.
The strongest percentage increase in revenue came in Marquette, where Bally’s Marquette’s figures increased 83.8% to $3.2 million after a new facility opened this year. Wild Rose Clinton recorded an increase of 9.7%, while Diamond Jo Worth figures rose 5.9%
Of the state’s 19 casinos, 13 recorded year-over-year revenue drops. Big declines were posted by Horseshoe Casino Council Bluffs, down 13.9%; Harrah’s Council Bluffs, down 12.8%; and Catfish Bend Casino, down 10.9%.
