INDIANAPOLIS (AP) – Indiana’s lottery commission is nearing a vote on whether to hire a company to take over more of the Hoosier Lottery’s operations.

The State Lottery Commission was expected to vote Wednesday on whether to move ahead with hiring a private vendor or to keep lottery operations as they are.

The panel delayed a vote last week to give its members more time to consider proposals from two possible vendors that want to take over lottery marketing, sales and distribution services in a bid to boost lottery revenue.

If the commission decides to proceed with outsourcing, it would choose between New York-based Scientific Games International and Rhode Island-based GTECH.

Hoosier Lottery executive director Karl Browning said last week the proposals were for 15-year contracts.
