One of the big criticisms over the rollout of the regulated gaming and sportsbook industry in Ontario in 2022 was the delay at the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation’s end for green-lighting retail sports books.
If anything, coming out of two years of pandemic-related shutdowns and restrictions, live sports betting experiences promised to be a major draw in getting traffic into land-based casinos, something their businesses sorely needed. Digital betting is one thing. But there’s still nothing like being with your fellow humans, live betting during a big sporting event, like Ontarians were seeing in pictures from other markets like Las Vegas and a lucky few were experiencing themselves.
Well, Ontario is finally taking steps in that other direction, with retail sports betting popping up in more casinos across the province, such as today’s grand opening of the province’s first full-service sportsbook, Caesars Sportsbook at Caesars Windsor.
Kevin Laforet, president, Caesars Windsor, Windsor-West NDP MP Brian Masse, and Windsor Mayor Drew Dilkens were on hand for the event. It’s taken patience to get to this point, to say the least.
Caesars Sportsbook at Caesars Windsor is located in front of Legends Sports Bar, with three betting windows and seven betting kiosks. The 1,618-square-foot space has 22 large-screen HD LED TVs with state-of-the-art sound, dedicated seating for great views, and fan-favorite menu items. Staff is there to help patrons place sports bets.
“We’re thrilled to offer sports bettors a chance to get in on the action with all their favourite sports and enjoy the thrill of single event betting as part of our world-class resort experience at Caesars,” said Laforet.
Caesars Sportsbook is open daily from 10 a.m. to midnight. Legends Sports Bar is open daily from 4 p.m. to midnight for food service and from 11 a.m. to 2 a.m. for beverage service. Sportsbook kiosks are open 24/7 and are located in the Caesars Sportsbook, outside of the poker room, at the main floor Skybridge entrance, and inside The House Sports Lounge.
