GAN Thursday announced that Seamus McGill has been appointed CEO. McGill had been serving as interim CEO since September 2023, when he replaced Derek Smurfit.
Earlier this week, GAN shareholders approved a previously announced merger agreement with Sega Sammy Creation, a subsidiary of Sega Sammy Holdings. GAN entered into a definitive agreement and plan of merger with Sega Sammy Creation in November, 2023. According to a news release, 95% of the votes cast were in favor of the merger agreement and merger.
“Seamus has the full backing of the board of directors and we are confident that his experience and leadership make him the most qualified candidate to be GAN’s next CEO,” said GAN Chairman of the Board David Goldberg in a statement. “Seamus has been with the Company since 2014 and has a deep understanding of GAN’s products, customers, and strategy. On behalf of the entire Board of Directors, I’d like to congratulate Seamus on his appointment and we look forward to his success.”
McGill will remain on GAN’s board of directors and focus on guiding the company towards a closing with Sega Sammy Creation.
“It’s an honor to be named GAN’s CEO and I’d like to thank David and the board for their vote of confidence,” McGill said. “Going forward, our focus remains unchanged. We remain committed to a timely closing of our transaction with Sega Sammy to maximize value for all of our stakeholders.”
McGill has been a member of GAN’s board of directors for over nine years and was president of JOINGO, a mobile software company. He also has worked with Aristocrat Technologies, Cyberview Technology, WMS Gaming, and Mikohn Gaming.
