HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) – The former chairman of the Mohegan Tribe says he believes a bill authorizing a satellite casino can be crafted that addresses the concerns of Connecticut lawmakers and the Attorney General.
Bruce “Two Dogs” Bozsum said the tribes and state “always work through those things.”
Both the Mohegans and Mashantucket Pequots hope to open up to three jointly operated casinos to help combat out-of-state gambling competition. Bozsum said the tribes have “everything we need on paper” for the deal and are waiting for the legislation to pass.
The Mohegans held their annual legislative reception for lawmakers Wednesday at the Capitol. Gov. Dannel P. Malloy and Lt. Gov. Nancy Wyman stopped by. Malloy said afterward the attorney general raised “serious issues” about the constitutionality of the bill that need to be solved.
