Focus on Adept: Changing the face of slot dispatch

The casino floor can be a chaotic place with slot players scattered at various machines. On the operator side, casinos must manage so much going on at once: attendants, service calls, beverage services, and more.

Managing it all takes some real organization, and Adept USA is making that an easier process. The company’s Adept Mobile Dispatch System (AMDS) was the first mobile system in the market after debuting in 2010.

AMDS is a mobile-centric solution designed to optimize guest service on casino floors by delivering events from casino management systems to technicians and attendants. Core functionalities include maintaining electronic MEAL books, preventative maintenance, host notifications, beverage server dispatch, manual alerts, and business intelligence like tracking machine downtime and staff performance.

“We capture real-time events from the casino management system and other data sources, and then we get those events into the right hands as soon as possible,” Adept Head of Growth Eshan Jituri says. “Attendants can also create manual alerts to escalate machine issues to a technician when additional assistance is needed.”

Unlike some other systems, Adept creates high-level configurations allowing the software to adapt to an operator’s natural workflow rather than a “one-size-fits-all” dispatch.

“We were built on the backbone of the mobile revolution,” Jituri says. He adds the mobile approach “can weed out all the noise and the chaos, and just get those signals and alerts into the right hands as soon as possible.”

Adept is now serving over 50 casino properties across the U.S. and some have noted that similar systems don’t allow for changes and additional functionality. That has left operators to adapt their own operations to fit the slot dispatch system, as opposed to having the slot dispatch system built around how their operation naturally operates.

“We have a lot of different configurations that allow gaming operators to operate as they want to operate,” Jituri says. “I think those high-level configurations and different feature sets that we have in the system, really set us apart from other systems in the market, from a pure functionality and basic dispatch perspective.”

AMDS has undergone nine iterations driven by operator feedback. The software continues to evolve, adding new features “built by gaming operators for gaming operators,” as Jituri notes. The company takes pride in being built specifically for slot management.

“Our intention is to continue developing the right technology for slot departments and become their go-to technology partner,” he adds. “We have a lot of new products and features coming out to further support them as well.

Jituri’s father Mahesh Jituri, president and CEO of the company, began the business as a custom software developer before transitioning into serving the gaming industry, specializing in slot dispatch. The Adept Mobile Dispatch System came about as a result of an early development agreement. SugarHouse Casino (now rebranded as Rivers Casino Philadelphia) opened in 2010 and needed a slot dispatch system. Mahesh and his team got to work, but didn’t have much time.

“We had the system designed, built to their specs within three months, and it was working when they opened their doors,” he says.

After reviewing the system’s capabilities, the casino’s sister properties chose to deploy AMDS at their locations. The system has expanded since then as has the company itself. The product has made a major impact for customers, offering a complete mobile dispatch system that evolves with their own needs.

“People speak very highly of not just our product, but also our company and support,” Mahesh says. “That has made us grow. It’s well received. We have excellent references and they have taken us to where we are today.”

Additionally, Eshan notes that Adept continues to invest capital and constantly seeks out modern technological solutions. The company isn’t complacent about upgrading the product, adding more tools and services along the way – a forward-looking approach.

Adept also offers other casino software solutions. The company is developing Vault, an inventory system that can track tech shop parts and other aspects of operations. ProgressiveIQ helps streamline the progressive reading process.

AdeptConnect is meant to replace radios on the floor and can be built into the dispatch system, allowing chat and communication across departments. Show Control detects when a jackpot reaches a certain threshold and triggers the property’s audio, video, and lighting systems to build some excitement.

Since joining the company, Eshan has worked to get the word out about the company and what the Adept Mobile Dispatch System can do for operators. Since that first launch in 2010, Mahesh and Eshan say the company has historically done little marketing. The team is hoping this renewed effort can let operators know what Adept brings to the table, or more particularly, to the slots.

“I confidently believe we are the best dispatch system out there,” Eshan says. “One of our customers mentioned that he’s tried pretty much every single dispatch system under the sun and said Adept is far better than all of them.”
