Seminole Casino Coconut Creek’s Coco Poker Room in South Florida has raised more than $100,000 for good causes in the past year through charity poker tournaments for organizations including NFL Alumni’s Caring for Kids, Irreverent Warriors, Rodriguez Charities and the Hard Rock Heals Foundation.

“We’re honored to host these charity poker tournaments for such great causes,” Director of Poker Kelly Mautner said in a statement. “These organizations are doing terrific things to support our local community and it is a great opportunity for us to give back alongside them when hosting these tournaments. We encourage every person to take time to be kind.”

The most recent Coco Poker charity tournament on Aug. 22 raised $10,000 for the George Snow Scholarship Fund, which helps South Florida students with college financial aid and support services.

Coco Poker helps make the events not just financially beneficial to charity partners, but also interesting for players by including notable South Floridians including the MMA’s Colby “Chaos” Covington, former NFL player Bob “Bru” Brudzinski, Parkland Mayor Richard Walker and Coconut Creek Mayor Josh Rydell as celebrity participants known as “bounties.” When players eliminate one of the celebrities, they win additional prize money.
