Gaming equipment giant International Game Technology filled an open board seat with a cyber security expert.
The company said Wednesday it appointed Dr. Samantha Ravich as an independent director. The board had an opening when former IGT CEO Patti Hart vacated her seat on May 17.
Ravich is the chairwoman of the Center on Cyber and Technology Innovation at the Foundation for Defense of Democracies in Washington D.C., and she oversees the Transformative Cyber Innovation Lab.
“Samantha’s extensive experience, and focus on cybersecurity, are welcome complements to the existing expertise of our board members,” said IGT Chairman Lorenzo Pellicioli. “We look forward to working with her.”
Ravich is also vice chairwoman of the President’s Intelligence Advisory Board; a Commissioner on the Congressionally mandated Cyberspace Solarium Commission; and a member of the Secretary of Energy’s Advisory Board.
She also served as Deputy National Security Advisor for Vice President Dick Cheney focusing on Asian and Middle East Affairs as well as on counterterrorism and counter-proliferation.
Ravich is a frequent keynote speaker on the subject, “What Corporate Boards need to know about Cyber Security and Warfare.”
