Casino Salem in New Hampshire, which Churchill Downs purchased in July, will be renamed as part of a rebrand announced on January 12. When fully redeveloped, Casino Salem will become Rockingham Grand Casino, according to the Kentucky-based company.
The completed Rockingham Grand will encompass 160,000 square feet across three floors and include a 900-seat events center. The gaming floor will be home to 32 table games, 12 electronic table games, and 825 historical racing machines. An unspecified restaurant, bar, and sports bar will also be on offer.
Rockingham Grand is intended to be the anchor tenant of The Mall at Rockingham Park, described as New Hampshire’s largest shopping mall. It is also in the vicinity of mixed-use development Tuscany Village, an entertainment, retail, office, hotel, and residential district.
Churchill Downs has budgeted $180 million to $200 million for the Rockingham Grand, with a planned opening in the summer of 2027. “We look forward to contributing to New Hampshire’s charitable organizations, while bringing outstanding entertainment experiences to our guests across the greater Boston region,” said Churchill Downs CEO William Carstanjen, in a prepared statement.
Continued Carstanjen, “We remain fully committed to strengthening our local economy through the creation of vibrant consumer destinations.”
The casino will be redeveloped in conjunction with Tuscan Brands and the Lupoli Companies.
