In addition to the acquisition, Caesars has agreed to extend its igaming market access rights with WynnBET’s partner, the Sault Tribe of Chippewa Indians, pending regulatory approval. The acquisition will allow Caesars to expand further into one of the largest igaming markets in the United States. The company will continue to operate Caesars Sportsbook and Caesars Palace Online Casino.

Caesars plans to transition WynnBET’s Michigan igaming operations to one of the flagship gaming brands within Caesars’ portfolio this year. In a press release from Caesars Entertainment, the company says it will announce more information on its new igaming offering later.

“As we continue to grow our igaming franchise, the assumption of WynnBET’s igaming operations in Michigan allows us to tap into a significant market and customer base, providing a crucial step forward in growing our digital products and offering players more ways to play,” said Matt Sunderland, Caesars’ senior vice president & chief igaming officer. “We are honored to work with the Sault Ste. Marie Tribe of Chippewa Indians and look forward to growing with them in Michigan.”

“It was paramount that our next partner in igaming possessed both expertise in the U.S. igaming market and a history of strong partnerships in Indian country,” Austin Lowes, chairman of the Sault Ste. Marie Tribe of Chippewa Indians, said. “We believe we found that with Caesars and look forward to being part of their new icasino offering. Caesars is committed to ensuring a smooth customer experience for current WynnBET iGaming customers during this transition.”

Elsewhere in Michigan, Fanatics Betting and Gaming is replacing PointsBet with its bespoke Fanatics Sportsbook and Casino app. The app will launch on Thursday and will be the newest online casino and sportsbook to launch in the state since ESPN BET/Hollywood Casino launched in November.
