The City of Cheyenne’s Public Services Committee approved on third reading a proposed ordinance that will, if approved by the full City Council June 22, establish special districts for horse betting facilities.
Updates to the ordinance eliminated a requirement that a facility outside one of those districts would not be able to exist near certain businesses, instead requiring extra permitting.
New state legislation allows city governments more say over where these types of businesses go, and the city is looking to establish four in different regions. Those proposed districts, including the close-by but distinct 15th Street and Reed districts, can be viewed below.
