The South Jersey Transportation Authority is offering incentives to airlines as they look to increase the number of routes that are offered from Atlantic City International Airport after Spirit Airlines shut down in early May.
The agency’s Board of Commissioners approved the program June 17.
“Since Spirit Airlines ceased operations in May, other carriers have stepped in to serve all the destinations previously offered by Spirit at ACY,” said Kim Testa, spokesperson for the agency, which oversees the airport. “While those markets have been restored, flight frequencies have not yet returned to the levels that were previously available, creating opportunities for airlines to expand service and better meet passenger demand.”
