The past week has seen twists and turns involving the proposed redevelopment of the Par-A-Dice Casino Hotel.
It began Saturday, Jan. 31 with notice of a special Peoria City Council meeting Monday, Feb 3. The only agenda item was a proposed settlement agreement with the casino’s owners, Boyd Gaming.
Fast forward to Thursday morning and the announcement before the Illinois Gaming Board of a major change in the $160 million redevelopment proposal that kept the casino itself on the river instead of the previously proposed artificial pond.
“Today’s update is consistent with our Dec. 11 proposal in a number of respects that we’ve outlined throughout this presentation today. Truly, the modification is just the location of the casino floor and associated amenities themselves,” said Cassie Stratford, a legal executive for Boyd Gaming.
