The Greenbrier’s casino will be able to keep operating after West Virginia Lottery officials gave it a green light Tuesday.
Debt tied to the historic resort – owned by U.S. Sen. Jim Justice and his family – has been the center of a recent legal battle that will decide its future.
The casino’s license was set to expire Wednesday, but lottery board members consulted with an independent auditing firm which found the Justice group has more than half a billion dollars available in total assets.
The resort has been put on watch as casino’s latest financial report was late, there has been considerable turnover in its finance department and working capital is less than ideal.
