A recent look at the proposed Richmond casino campaign’s finances reveals the committee donated $800,000 to local unions that earlier promised to represent potential hospitality workers.

According to Virginia Public Access Project data, the casino’s political action committee “Richmond Wins, Vote Yes” allocated $800,000 of its record-breaking $8.1 million campaign finances to another referendum committee “Richmonders for Good Jobs.”

“Richmonders for Good Jobs,” a recently formed labor management committee, is affiliated with Unite Here, a nationwide labor union that represents numerous hospitality workers.

Last month, the organization announced at a news conference that it had formed a fair labor agreement with Maryland-based Urban One and Kentucky-based Churchill Downs, two key stakeholders in the ongoing casino referendum.
