Nearly one year after construction began on Norfolk’s highly anticipated casino development near Harbor Park, the project is rapidly transforming the city’s skyline along Park Avenue.
Drivers traveling on Interstate 264 through downtown Norfolk can now see cranes, heavy equipment and the casino structure taking shape as work continues on the $750 million development. The casino resort is expected to become one of Norfolk’s largest entertainment destinations, adding gaming, hospitality and event space to the city’s waterfront district.
Ron Bailey, a representative for Boyd Gaming, one of the project’s stakeholders, said the casino remains on schedule and is expected to open in the latter part of next year.
