Sen. David Marsden (D-Burke) envisions a new entertainment district in Tysons to include a performance space where major entertainers like Taylor Swift could one day give a concert. The district would include a conference center on the site of an old car dealership, anchored by a casino.
“If we’re going to have a downtown, let’s make it look like a downtown and have a thing that attracts people in the off-hours, not just business during the business day,” he told Patch.
In January, Marsden and Del. Wren Williams (R-Stuart) introduced similar bills in the Virginia General Assembly that if passed would give the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors the power to authorize a referendum for an upcoming election.
