UNLV announced it has received a grant to help support digitizing the university’s archives related to the history of the casino industry.
The Recordings at Risk Grant, courtesy of the Council on Library and Information Resources, will go toward the project called “Doubling Down: Preserving the Stories of the Workers and Dreamers Behind the Las Vegas Casino Industry.”
Part of UNLV University Libraries Special Collections & Archives, “Doubling Down” is a collection of about 800 audiovisual items found in several archival collections related to gaming and hospitality.
These items include oral histories from casino workers and executives, aerial footage of Las Vegas, entertainment acts from the Stardust, and publicity records from casino owner Bob Stupak.
