The UK government has revealed further details of its new Illegal Gambling Taskforce, setting out how the group will tackle unlicensed operators in areas such as payments, advertising and online enforcement.

Launched in January, the taskforce comprises representatives from the gambling industry, as well as banks, technology platforms, law enforcement and regulators – with the joint aim of tackling illegal gambling. Google, Mastercard, TikTok and Visa are among those involved with the initiative, as previously announced.

The newly released framework details how the taskforce will focus on three core objectives. These include disrupting financial transactions linked to and from unlicensed operators and tackling online advertising of illegal gambling.
