A Florida man filed a federal lawsuit against Harrah’s Cherokee Casino and related companies, claiming he was defamed and discriminated against when trying to collect his winnings on an NBA championship bet.

Emmanuel Kromah and his consulting company, FortManny, are seeking damages exceeding $75,000 on multiple counts after an incident at the North Carolina casino on June 30, 2024.

According to the complaint filed in federal court, Kromah placed a bet in February 2024 on the Boston Celtics to win the NBA championship. When the Celtics won on June 14, 2024, his winning ticket was worth $500,500.

The lawsuit alleges that when Kromah arrived at Harrah’s Cherokee Casino Resort to collect his winnings, employees treated him “rudely” and refused to pay out the bet.
