An attempt to relocate an Indiana casino from Rising Sun, in the southeast corner of the state, to the Fort Wayne area encountered some resistance and failed to advance this year at the Republican-controlled General Assembly.

So, Hoosier lawmakers are going back to the drawing board to figure out the best place for a new casino to go — just in case the issue of casino relocation pops up again next year at the Statehouse.

Senate Enrolled Act 43, which received final approval Wednesday, directs the Indiana Gaming Commission to sponsor a third-party study to identify and assess the top two regions in the state for a potential new casino.
