Thousands of people are in Oklahoma City to discuss tribal gaming and the hope of bringing sports betting to the state. Sports betting and mobile betting are growing across the country. At the Oklahoma Indian Gaming Conference, it’s a big topic. Tribal leaders said they want to get involved, but it needs to be in their hands.

“Partner with the tribes. Don’t try to fight the tribes. Partner with them,” Susan Jenson with the California Nations Indian Gaming Association said.

As industry experts test out new machines, many wanted to hear about sports betting from tribal leaders.

“Legalize sports betting, because we know that it goes on. You see it out there. You see the illegal operations,” Matthew Morgan, chairman of the Oklahoma Indian Gaming Association, said.
