Spirit Airlines has ceased operations at Atlantic City International Airport and elsewhere around the country, effective immediately, the company announced Saturday.

“We understand this may be unexpected and stressful for many travelers,” the airport said in a post on social media.

The airport advised passengers with Spirit reservations not to go to the airport, as there will be no one to assist with booking, rebooking or customer service inquiries. The airport directed people with questions to spiritrestructuring.com/guests.

It also directed prospective travelers to its other commercial carriers, Allegiant Air and Breeze Airways, as well as American Airlines, which offers shuttle service from Atlantic City to flights at Philadelphia International Airport.
