A group of South Carolina business owners is suing restaurant and arcade chain Dave & Buster’s, claiming certain arcade machines used in Greenville and Myrtle Beach violate state gambling laws.

According to court records, SC Citizens For Equal Enforcement of Gambling Laws, LLC filed a lawsuit April 15 against Dave & Buster’s, claiming the chain’s arcade practices are against the law and asking for a jury to force the company to refund customers who lost money playing arcade games at one of the company’s locations in South Carolina.

Records with the South Carolina Secretary of State’s Office show SC Citizens for Equal Enforcement of Gambling Laws was registered with the state in March 2026. Its registered agent is James M. Griffin, a Columbia-based lawyer who represented Alex Murdaugh during his 2023 murder trial.
