For the second year in a row, Bally’s Corporation, the exclusive operator of the two state-sponsored casinos in Lincoln and Tiverton, is asking lawmakers for more state money to spend on marketing to head off losses after an indoor smoking ban takes effect in January 2027.

The request is for millions more, but it would be hard to guess that from the bill’s summary, which says the proposal, “Restates the UTGR Master Contract and the Twin River-Tiverton Master Contract and consolidates the marketing program of each into the Consolidated Marketing Program.”

Translation? Bally’s wants lawmakers to let the McKee administration reopen the state’s casino contracts to give Bally’s more money for marketing.
