Tourism continues to play a major role in Northern Nevada’s economy. A new report from Visit Reno Tahoe shows that visitor activity in 2024 generated more than $5.2 billion in total economic impact for Washoe County.
The study, conducted by Tourism Economics, estimates that 3.8 million visitors contributed over $420 million in state and local tax revenue and supported about 43,800 jobs across the region. August 2024 marked the area’s highest month ever for taxable room revenue, reaching nearly $56 million.
Visit Reno Tahoe president and CEO Mike Larragueta said the findings reflect steady visitor demand, despite broader economic challenges. “This destination and its stakeholders continued to drive demand, increasing visitor spending and sustaining jobs,” he said.
