OPINION: If Marylanders get an online casino option, they must understand the dangers

Legislation is expected to be introduced this month, calling for the legalization of online casino gambling in Maryland, which, if a recent poll by MDBetting.com is to be believed, has the overwhelming support of residents. Of the 1,000 people surveyed, 75% said they were in favor. There are a few factors they should consider, however.

Online gambling is one of the most addictive activities available to a free society, according to a recent study presented by the American Psychological Association. Think about going to a casino and gambling and then compare it to sitting at your desk at home and taking part.
