Lawmakers say a new push to legalize sports betting in Oklahoma is moving forward this week.
Oklahoma remains one of 11 states without mobile or in-person sports betting. Previous efforts have stalled amid disagreements between Gov. Kevin Stitt and tribal leaders.
Sen. Bill Coleman and Rep. Ken Luttrell announced plans to move forward with a new version of a sports betting bill, saying they have secured key stakeholder support.Lawmakers say the Oklahoma City Thunder, a supermajority of tribes within the Oklahoma Indian Gaming Association, and the state’s public universities support the proposal.
