The UAW raised strike pay to $400 per week this summer from $275 that it had stood at for years.

For the 200 casino workers represented by UAW Local 12 at Hollywood Casino Toledo, that $400 represents about half the average amount earned weekly in base hourly wages and tips. After tax, it’s more than 60 percent of take-home pay.

The dealers, slot machine attendants, and other UAW-represented workers earn on average $20 per hour, with $6.36 in base wages and the remainder in patron tips.
