Gambling apps were heavily used when legal sports betting launched on Sunday, but the amount of money bet in Ohio is still a mystery — and will be for some time because of a lag in official reporting.

Still, cellphone data says people in Ohio were likely busy making bets when gambling launched. According to one company’s data, Ohio was the busiest state in the U.S. in terms of people using sports betting apps at the start of the year.

“What we’ve seen in Ohio so far is a very impressive start to the market ,” said John Pappas, senior vice president of government and public affairs at GeoComply.
