In the lead-up to New Zealand’s general election on 7 November, the nation’s Labor Party has declined to reveal whether it would try to deny online casino licenses to operators next year if the party ultimately wins the election.
In a statement to The Post, Labor Internal Affairs spokesperson Lemauga Sosene did not express a clear opinion on whether the party would consider preventing the licenses from being issued.
“Labor agrees with the intent of regulating gambling for New Zealanders but opposed the current Government’s bill because it opens our doors to offshore online casinos, without a strong plan for harm reduction,” she commented.
