Sen. Joe Addabbo will reintroduce a New York online casino bill during the state’s 2023 legislative session.

During a Sunday panel discussion at the National Council of Legislators from Gaming States (NCLGS) conference in Las Vegas, advocates said NY iGaming could be worth an estimated $428 million in tax revenue — off $2.1 billion in total gross gaming revenue — with a 20% tax rate.

But even the most ardent industry supporters acknowledge getting a NY iGaming bill across the finish line next year will be a daunting challenge, with 2024 perhaps being more likely.

“I know everyone’s saying we have money,” Addabbo’s legislative director, Shanna Cassidy, said. “We’re good, but you can never have enough money for education.”
