State laws have changed, and now towns must opt out of having keno or allowing additional charitable gaming facilities like Revo Casino and Social House, or else they will be automatically made legal.
Selectmen will be crafting a warrant article addressing this to present to voters next April.
In recent years, Conway voters have repeatedly rejected articles that would allow keno in town, including in 2023, when 75 percent of voters turned it down.
On Aug. 1, Gov. Kelly Ayotte signed HB 737, which created local options for games of chance, authorized keno statewide, and changed charitable gaming license fees and reporting requirements. State Rep. David Paige (D-Conway) was among the sponsors of the bill.
