The landscape for operating a casino in the city [of Laconia] became a bit clearer this week, as it appears such an operation could be permitted within the city’s current zoning ordinances.
That would be a significant development, because it would preclude the need for the lengthy process needed to amend zoning.
City Manager Kirk Beattie provided an update on the issue during a meeting of city council’s Government and Ordinances Subcommittee on Wednesday.
Anthony Santagate, a Weirs Beach entrepreneur, made public his desire to open a charitable gaming establishment in August. He attended the meeting, and said he is in the process of applying for a license from the state.
