State-sanctioned sports wagering could start in Omaha within weeks after action Friday by a state panel.
Members of the Nebraska Racing and Gaming Commission approved the offering of sports wagering at WarHorse Casino Omaha, contingent on the operators satisfying a host of conditions dealing with security and other issues.
Commissioners specified that WarHorse should launch its sports book no sooner than Nov. 1 and not before the 14 conditions are met to the satisfaction of commission staff.
Because the casino is still under construction at Horsemen’s Park, 63rd and Q streets, the betting will take place in the same temporary facility set up in the racetrack infield where simulcast horse race betting was previously relocated.
