Now that the Nebraska State Fair is over, plans to begin work on the permanent Grand Island Casino and Resort will get underway in the next month.
Casino manager Vince Fiala said construction is expected to commence sometime in mid to late October.
Fiala said they are finalizing drawings to present to the Nebraska Racing and Gaming Commission for approval before starting construction.
The plan is to create a casino with a 24-hour Vegas-style experience, complete with sports betting, a hotel, a spa, various dining options, and entertainment.
